Well that’s awkward…
We pulled the “Available” column in our table from this page on the Texas Lottery website, but the figures there are slightly different than they are on the Game Tables.
So we’ll insert both.
This is also from the Texas Lottery, on the “Scratch Ticket Details” page:
Net Cost vs Net Prize Value
There are 4,161,240 tickets total in Colossal Cashword (assuming the normal caveats of distribution, scheduling, testing, early closure, etc.)
The Net Cost of buying every one of them would be $208,062,000.
The Net Prize Value won would be $162,484,300.
The difference between Net Cost and Net Prize Value is 78.094%.

Odds of Doubling Your Money
These are the odds of doubling your money (winning only the $100 prize) in Colossal Cashword, versus winning $100 on the other seven $50 Texas scratch off tickets already available:
Ticket (Game) | $100 Winner Odds Approx 1 in… ** |
---|---|
Colossal Cashword (2599) | 10.00 |
500X (Game 2589) | 8.00 |
LUXE (2548) | 10.00 |
Millions Club (2536) | 8.00 |

The table above displays only the odds of winning the $100 prize, so please keep in mind that sometimes there are lower/better odds of winning a higher-value prize.
For example, in the new $20.00 Texas ticket “Lucky Millions,” the odds of winning $75.00 are 1 in 62.50, but the odds of winning $100.00 are 1 in 20.83—so you’re 3x more likely to win $100 than you are to win $75.00 on this specific ticket.

Prizes Claimed as of November 5, 2024:
More specific to these $50 tickets, in some games, the approx odds of winning $100 are the same (1 in 20) as the odds of winning $150 (1 in 20).
Also, we discuss the $100 odds specifically as just one way of saying/showing that it’s best to study games in detail since they do vary.
Some players want the best Full Pack Odds (least loss potential/largest minimum guaranteed win), while others want the Best Top Prize Odds, etc., etc.
Total Number of Tickets Printed in Each $50.00 Game
Thanks to my YouTube friend @TheEvilCowboy for pointing this out:
“One thing I like about this game is it has a much lower print number compared to other 50s I think 2 million less.”
Colossal Cashword has 4.161-million tickets total.
That’s 6.076-million less than the largest print-run of Texas $50s tickets (the “$5,000,000 Ultimate” ticket with 10.237-million), and only 25,720 more than the $50s ticket with the smallest print run (Millions Club, Game #2536, with 4.135-million).
Here are those numbers, compared across all $50 Texas tickets:
Ticket (Game) | Tickets Printed* |
---|---|
Colossal Cashword (2599) | 4,161,240* |
500X (Game 2589) | 6,082,060* |
LUXE (2548) | 6,070,220* |
Millions Club (2536) | 4,135,520* |
Cash Royale (2479) | 8,214,280* |
5M Ultimate (2455) | 10,237,540* |
500X Loteria Spect. (2518) | 7,928,240* |
500X Loteria Spect. (2435) | 10,070,440* |
“* The number of actual prizes available in a game may vary based on the number of tickets manufactured, testing, distribution, sales and number of prizes claimed.” – Texas Lottery
What do these total print run numbers actually mean to the average player?
Hard to say exactly since the overall odds are what they are so print run numbers would seem to have little bearing on ROI? But there must be some difference?
Turns out there is.
Don’t Miss Game 2 on Back
There is a second game on the backside of the new Colossal Cashword $50 ticket which some players could miss, so be sure to double check everything and scan barcodes, etc.
Verdict / Discussion
We haven’t played this ticket but will when it’s released November 18th.
The data we looked at above suggests Colossal Cashword has slightly better overall odds than 5 of the 8 Texas scratch off tickets with a $50 price point, and slightly worse overall odds than just 2 of the eight tickets.
And, better Top Prize odds.
Colossal Cashword’s Top Prize Odds are about twice as good as the other two $50 Texas tickets that share the Top Prize of $3,000,000.
You can win a Top Prize of $3M on three $50.00 scratch off tickets in Texas.
Here they are along with their odds:
- 500X Loteria Spectacular, Game 2435, with Top Prize Odds of 1 in 2.52M.
- 500X Loteria Spectacular, Game 2518, with Top Prize Odds of 1 in 2.01M.
- Colossal Cashword, Game 2599, with Top Prize Odds of 1 in 1.02M.
That said, the odds of hitting a Top Prize on anything are terrible as always—but this looks like it’ll have decent ROI and be fun to play— so Overall Odds may be a better metric for many players, and as shown above this ticket has better overall odds than most existing $50s in Texas.
Please note we haven’t included how many Top Prizes are still available in any of the tables above, and have yet to add other data that might be worth looking at.
We’re really just sharing our own notes and opinions, and are not suggesting you play this or any other ticket at all.
